Introduction

The Portfolio Manager, provides you with a number of tools for tracking the securities you own—even those you don't. You can also use the Portfolio Manager to compare securities with the market and to track news about those securities. You can set up and track your portfolio from the IndiaBulls Portfolio tab.

What's a portfolio?

Your portfolio include stocks (presently mutual funds and options cannot be tracked). At any time you can add securities, including those that you don't own, to the portfolio.

Create lists and views

To help you track and compare securities, you can create separate Accounts that contain only a specific set of securities you want to track.

Maintaining your portfolio


You can track new additions or changes in your portfolio - but they won't appear in your portfolio until you add them. If you add stocks that split, you'll need to edit your portfolio to reflect those changes. Prices for stocks are updated throughout the day.

Add Entries

You can add any stock to your portfolio, whether you're just creating a new portfolio or adding to an existing one. You can add as many as 10 entries to a portfolio at a time, for up to a total of 50 items. On this page, you enter the basic information about securities you want to track.You can attach other information about a security when you edit its entry.

How to Add entries

Select the Portfolios tab.

If you want to create a new account, then select the link Create New Account. This will take you to a new page where you can provide a name for the account as well as enter the details for the securities you wish to track. Click on Add Account when you're done.

However, if you want to add entries to an existing account, then first select this account to display the valuation record for it. If you have only one account, the valuation record for it would be displayed by default. If you have more than one account, from the drop-down box , select the account that you want to view. The page will get refreshed with the details of your new selection.

  • Click the Add Entries link at the top right corner of the page.
  • At Symbol type the symbol of the security
  • If you don't know the symbol click Find, type the company name and click Search. Select the security from the list and the symbol is automatically added to the Symbol box.
  • At Buy/Sell, enter the type of transaction - whether the security was bought or sold.
  • At Quantity, type a new number of shares or units.
  • At Price, enter the amount that represents the price paid per share or unit.
  • At Date, enter the date the security settled into your account
  • Repeat the above steps for all other stocks you wish to track and click Modify Account.
Edit Entries

At any time, you can change the entries for positions in your portfolio. For example, you might include new securities or you might update a transaction type based on a recent reorganization. You can also remove entries from your portfolio.

How to Edit Entries
  1. Click the Portfolios tab. By default, the account you added most recently is displayed
  2. If you have more than one account, at Account, select the account that you want to view.
  3. If you want to change one or more entries, click the Edit Entries link at the top right hand corner.
  4. All your entered transactions for the account are displayed. You can edit the values or press the Deletelink at the left to delete a particular entry.
  5. You can change any of the following items:
    • At Symbol, enter a different symbol. If you don't know the symbol click Find, type company name, select the security type, and click Search. Select the security from the list and the symbol is automatically added to the Symbol box.
    • At Quantity, type a new number of shares or units.
    • At Price, enter the amount that represents the price paid per share or unit, inclusive of brokerage or taxes.
    • At Date, enter the date the security settled into your account.
    • At Buy/Sell, choose Bought or Sold.
    • Click Submit Change
  6. If you're deleting an account:
    • Check to make sure this is the account you want to remove
    • Click Delete Account.The account and all it's transactions are removed

  7. Definitions


    Symbol

    The identifier assigned to the security by the exchange it trades on.

    Quantity
    The number of shares.

    Price
    What you paid for the security per unit.

    Date
    When you bought or sold the security.

    Buy/Sell
    Whether you bought or sold the security.
